At Home in my Lab

ANULA

In this video, where I’m working in the lab to the tune of Jeena Yahan, Marna Yahan, Iske Siwa Aur Jaana Kahan; I wanted to reflect my deep connection to the laboratory. For me, the lab has always been more than just a workplace—it’s where I find a sense of belonging and purpose. No matter what’s going on in life, whether it is balancing home or work, the lab is where I feel grounded. It’s a place that seems to love me back as much as I love being there. The feeling of juggling both my personal and professional life while finding joy in each is something I’ve come to cherish deeply.

This song in the background, my lab equipments around me and myself performing some  experiments… perfectly captures how much I enjoy being in the laboratory—it’s where my heart truly belongs. After leaving AHERF, Apollo Hospitals, I explored different roles like writing, editing, and analysis in life sciences, but deep down, I missed the lab. Then, unexpectedly, I was offered the Senior Scientist position at Sapien Biosciences,  incubated inside Apollo Hospitals. The best part? My lab remains the same, only my job title, responsibilities, and employer have changed. It feels as if the place is not letting me go, reciprocating the love and dedication I’ve poured into it over the last 8 years. Now, I have returned to my old lab and am continuing my work with renewed passion, hoping to contribute meaningfully and so on and so forth.

I hope my journey serves as a reminder to other women—especially those who are married or have children—that pursuing your dreams is always possible. With resilience, passion and determination, nothing is truly out of reach."
